Home is Where the Art is

The latest in a series of heartfelt framed pewter pieces from California-based artist Cynthia Webb, "Cottage" is a beautiful, thought-provoking reminder of the almighty power of "home" and the loving bond shared by those residing inside of it. To create the piece, Webb hand-carved the intricate cottage design in jeweler's wax. After the pewter is cast, Webb then polishes, oxidizes, and swipes a lacquered veneer over its gorgeous, handmade form. Mounted on dark blue and white paper matting within a wood frame, each piece comes signed, framed and ready to hang bearing the quote "Home is where there is one to love us". A thoughtful gift for new homeowners, newlyweds, and anyone who cherishes the sanctity of shelter. Handmade in California.

CynthiaWebb

Cynthia Webb is a San Diego, California artist who specializes in the design of handcrafted pewter gifts. Her work is known for its fine detail, which is evident on both the front and the back of her pieces. Her designs range from simple hearts to complex angels and crosses.

Beginning with an idea, Cynthia sketches until she is satisfied that she has captured her original thought on paper. She carves the design in jeweler's wax, signs and titles the piece on the back in the original wax. The wax is then cast and a mold is made, which allows duplicate pieces to be created. After the pewter is cast, the pieces are hand-finished, oxidized and polished. A thin lacquer coating is applied to prevent further oxidation.

Cynthia's most popular designs capture her earliest and most enduring inspirations--home, family, faith and nature. The early influence of a creative family and the inspiration of world travel guided her to a career in the arts. Her introduction to jewelry making began in London, where she lived briefly prior to commencing studies in architecture at the University of Houston. Her work is all hand crafted in the USA.

"I'm inspired through the creation of 'Art that tugs on one's heart strings.' I hope to remind each of us of that special occasion, person or place we connect with in our past or present lives."

Cynthia feels strongly that her gifts and success are to be shared and she gladly supports several non-profit organizations by way of donations from the sale of specific items. These include charities tied to seniors in need, cancer awareness and children with autism. collection
