Artist Rachel Shoshana took cues from her past to provide the inspiration for her meaningful series of coded pendants. After receiving a necklace from her sister with a written message on it, Rachel found it difficult to convey the weight and significance of such a personal phrase to those who inquired about its meaning. By looking to her mother's profession as a special education teacher, she found her solution. Rachel learned sign language at an early age and remembered the secret signals only two people share. For Rachel, the braille alphabet also provides the perfect mode to exchange private sentiments in a beautiful, public way. Along a sterling silver bar Rachel places ever so slightly recessed dots spelling out a single word. At the bottom, a corresponding semi-precious stone adds even more meaning with its metaphysical properties. Handmade in Pennsylvania.
