This stylish patchwork bag not only pieces together splashes of color, but it unites modern lifestyles with ancient traditions. For the woman on the go, it offers a wide central compartment with a magnetic snap closure. Inside, the cotton lining has three pockets, including one with a zipper for extra security, to keep your wallet and electronics right where you need them. The rich colors and rounded contours of the front, patchwork panel make this an appealing complement to your everyday, on-the-go wear.
Take a deeper look, and you'll discover the bag's roots in tradition: it's made in Nepal using an indigenous variety of hemp that is gathered in the Himalayas. The fibers are cleaned and spun, and then woven by hand in highland villages. The fabric is then delivered on foot to Kathmandu, where local artisans cut and stitch it into this bag. All through this process, women-owned co-ops and cottage businesses are using their traditional skills to earn money, bringing development, healthcare and education to their families and communities. Handmade in Nepal.

I can picture buying this if a percentage was going back to Nepal, but the item itself does not grab me.

The design is very pretty, and I'd buy it if the main compartment had a zipper. I doubt that the zippered side pocket is big enough to fit a wallet and smartphone.
