Balancing Act

This necklace's simplicity of materials and design reminds you to seek balance in each moment - and within yourself. Mary Steratore combines gold and sterling silver organic forms with serene, blue iolite in an essay on harmony and balance. Also known as the "Water Sapphire" or "Viking's Compass," iolite is thought to promote clarity of mind and focus on the moment - qualities that can help you find balance in your day. Handmade in the USA.

It can be daunting trading one career for another, especially when there are PhDs involved. But for Mary Steratore, such a change led to the realization of true artistic expression. Leaving archaeology to create her own fine art, Steratore settled in Rome, where her paintings and sculptures were well-received. After showing her work throughout Italy and the US, she developed a new line of jewelry inspired by her sculpture.
