hand in hand braceletby Alice Scott $70.00
- the story
In sign language and other forms of visual communication, a pair of interlocking hands is a symbol of unity, a gesture of friendship or love. Inspired by this powerful iconography, jewelrymaker Alice Scott creates pieces with familiar forms but layered significance. Scott invites the wearer to bring her own meaning to this bracelet through the feeling of togetherness it conveys without words. Handmade in Asheville, NC.

- the maker
Alice started making jewelry when she was six years old. She painted brooches with pumpkin faces to sell at craftshows for Halloween. She graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a degree in Jewelry and Metalsmithing. Today, Alice continues to be interested in making work that celebrates traditions. She borrows symbols from a variety of spiritual and cultural practices in order to create my own world of sacred objects. Each piece is meant to help each person who wears it feel connected to something mysterious, ancient, and bigger than herself.
