Bloom Goes the Dynamite

An iconic snapshot captured the spirit of the '60s peace movement: a young protester placing flowers into the barrels of the guns being leveled at him.

These unique bud vases evoke that peace-loving spirit. The mold for the base was made using an actual WWII-era grenade, and the stoneware is then finished with sweet, pastel acrylics. A slender glass tube rests in the top, allowing you to display small bursts of floral fireworks. The vase is the creation of artist Toby Atticus Fraley, whose work often uses artifacts of popular culture in playful new contexts. Made in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.

Unfortunately, this item cannot ship outside of the United States at this time.

Comments about GRENADE MICRO BUD VASE:

It's a perfect hostess gift for the many military events we attend ... but it's really too small and would be much more effective if actual size of grenades. I love it, and got several ... but would REALLY get more if larger. It's very hard to put a tiny bud in that tiny glass.

This design by Toby Atticus Fraley captures the spirit of the '60s in a home decor piece for today. Would you give this Grenade Micro Bud Vase a chance?

There is enough war and ugliness. Let's not dress it up in pretty colors and put an unrealistic spin on it.

does NOT evoke the 60's, but the horror of grenades around the world. Really poor taste.

      Joan
      Vote: Thumbs down!

Really? Nothing says love and beauty like a flower in a grenade.

Pittsburgh, PA is spelled with an "h" at the end :-)

I chuckled when I saw it because my Dad would like something like this, but no thanks for for me! I wouldn't want a grenade sitting on my window or in my living room w/a flower or two in it!

The glorification of weapons is gross. BIG no.

      Julie

There is nothing cute or lovable or "please buy me one for my house" about grenades. Please do not carry this.

I think these are cute and make a statement. For people saying these are insensitive to people with PTSD: stop going to extremes. If you think about this, it is like many other anti war statements we have seen. Relax.

They are cute and original, but I do not know if I would purchase. Must have a unique taste to display these in your home.

      Let's not commercialize anti-war sentiment.

      Linda

Unique, and I like the idea of the set, which makes the scene pop. They don't necessarily need flowers to keep it interesting.

      David
      Vote: Thumbs down!

I don't think you can dress up a vessel of death to simply turn it into an artifact of playful, new culture.

First of all, it's Pittsburgh, right?I think the colors ruin it for me. I don't like weapons, but there might be a way to do this (rainbow/peace sign)?

      Jennifer
      Vote: Thumbs down!

I don't like anything that glorifies warfare or makes war seem glamorous or beautiful. There is nothing beautiful about war or destruction. This is in poor taste.

Thanks for catching that, Nicole! We updated "Pittsburgh" in our product story.
