Fred Conlon

Raised in Colorado, Fred Conlon lives now in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he makes garden sculptures out of recovered objects. For his helmet sculptures, he uses real recovered World War II helmets. "It is very satisfying to transform something once used in war into a peaceful garden decoration," he says. His work has been featured in Niche Magazine, the Salt Lake Tribune and HGTV. What would he be if he weren't an artist? "Happy...just kidding!" he answers. "I can't imagine doing anything else."

      Comments about GNOME-BE-GONE SWING SET:

It is certainly an imaginative piece but could have better craftsmanship.

We had to return the first one we received as one of the characters could not swing at all given the placement of the base of the swingset. The pole impeded the swinging as they were bent at a very obtuse angle.

The second model allowed both characters to swing, however, one of the characters swings more free-form than the other as the other shows a large amount of friction. This was disappointing, but we did not want to send it back as that would be the 3rd product we would receive on this order.

Overall, for the price, I would not purchase this again. It's certainly imaginative and evoked the reaction I was expecting, but the quality and the consistency did not live up to my expectations.

It was our 7th Anniversary, this was a great gift for my husband for his office desk. It was a cute way to show him that I would say yes all over again, and that he keeps me young :)

          Comments about GNOME-BE-GONE SWING SET:

I gave this as a birthday gift to my sister, who already loved Gnome-Be-Gone items. Hadn't seen this one before....and it was PERFECT. We are twins and used to love to swing. (still do) I scratched the "lipstick" off of the one gnome so they were both gender neutral. (easy to do) My sister immediately fell in love with it after opening the box, which I had wrapped in the HUGE amount of extra packaging paper that the item came in. Then I stabbed holes in the box and wrote "air holes" on the brown paper packaging. (after all, gnomes must breathe!) So it looked really rough and intriguing. I think she is going to keep it inside her house. I aim to buy one myself and sit it on my drafting/computer table next to a big fern. There is a moss green drafting mat on the table, so the gnomes can feel like they are outside..... but be safe from people who might steal them. (they are just that cute....)
