Commonly known as a yin yang, the taijitu, or "diagram of ultimate power" represents the delicate balance of life. Light and dark, male and female, hot and cold - these opposites are interconnected and dependent on each other, and Taoism strives to achieve a balance between them without identifying either as good or bad.

This finely crafted necklace is a beautiful interpretation of the symbol. Artist Jenny Gaynor begins with a brass mold that is stamped into gray molten glass using Muranese glassworking techniques.
