Down To Earth

"Nature is full of genius, full of the divinity, so that not a snowflake escapes its fashioning hand." - Henry David Thoreau

Finding her inspiration in the farms, gardens, and forested environs that surround her Connecticut studio, artist Merrie Buchsbaum captures the enchantment and serenity of the natural world in her charming art work. Studied in the arts, the natural sciences and nutrition, Merrie sows the seeds of all her passions in her gorgeous collection of four natural pens.

Each earthy pen is infused with botanicals plucked directly from Merrie's cottage garden. To make these functional pieces of art, the artist grinds her dried petals, seeds, and stems and combines them with resin to create the natural color and texture. Each individually crafted pen is a pleasure to look at and to handle, and with every swirl of its barrel, each stunning specimen is just the thing to inspire any wordsmith to spring into action. And having a little bit of Merrie's flowers in your pen makes your gift even that more special. Handmade in Connecticut.

Sold individually.

Merrie Buchsbaum

Merrie Buchsbaum is known in her Connecticut town as the "Garden Lady"! People stop by and take photographs of her garden all season. If she's working in the gardens, she'll even give a guided tour of her plantings. Her favorites include: the climbing New Dawn pink rose, the cute Dilly Dally Lavender, the different Hydrangeas and many more... It's hard to just have a few favorites. Her gardens are in bloom from late March until mid December. Mother Nature is a never ending treat!
