Life on Earth

With her handcrafted fern pots, artist Shelly Cubarney creates a lasting impression of natural beauty. She throws each one by hand on her pottery wheel using the highest quality porcelain clay, and presses into its surface a fern from the woods near her Pennsylvania studio. The inside of the pot is glazed with a rich, deep hue, while the outside is hand sanded for a raw texture, and stained an earthy brown.

And these handsome jars not only hold water, they play a part in preserving it as well. The distinctive outer coloring is derived from iron and manganese oxide which has been extracted from polluted mine runoff and recycled into a 100% safe ceramic glaze. It's part of an ongoing effort that is bringing new vibrant life to the region's waterways and to your decor as well. Larger blue vase (on left) and smaller green vase (on right) sold separately.
