Lori Strickland

A native Floridian, Lori Strickland comes from a long line of ranchers and cowboys-"Old Florida," she calls it. "Before the mouse took over." Lori trained at the Gemology Institute of America and The Jeweler's Bench of Florida. While she was studying to become a designer, she met her husband, who was studying to become a manufacturer.

"We have the perfect relationship in many ways," Lori says. "Every designer needs a manufacturer and every manufacturer needs a designer."

The Stricklands have worked together for 15 years and have a 10-year-old daughter, who has designed jewelry and made wax models since she was six. She's even designing something to be featured in Lori's next collection. "We are a true family business," she says.

"My inspiration comes from the world around me. I tend to see things from a different angle than most people. I enjoy the irony and romance of life. Plain objects seem whimsical and I see things like the cork in the dog or flowers and plants that dance like ballerinas."

When she isn't busy with jewelry, Lori is taking her daughter to voice lessons or barefoot skiing when the weather is nice. The family also enjoys walking on the beach, surf fishing and playing with their two dachshunds. collection
