Circle Marks the Spot
This handcrafted pouch is lit up with the fantastic colors and textures of Peruvian needlework. Each clutch, with its geometric pattern features a zippered enclosure to keep your necessities securely inside.
Designer Jenny Krauss has made it her mission to provide work for the talented but impoverished artisans of South America. Employed under fair trade practices, craftspeople in Peru embroider these bags using a curly wool thread, which gives each bag a unique, textured appearance.

Here's the thing about Jenny Krauss' company: it's not about her. Jenny began making baby and home gifts 20 years ago, but has spent the last 10 years providing work for Bolivian and Peruvian artisans, often women with exceptional skills and few options for work. See all creations.

Handcrafted by artisans in Peru, we think these fun pouches could make great gifts for craft lovers and fashion lovers alike! Designed by artist Jenny Kraus (see her artist bio to learn more), each pouch is embroidered by a talented fair trade crafts-person. Do you love the floral pattern or the circle design more?
Seneca
I prefer the circle design because I don't like the background color on the flower version. What is the size of each?
Cassie, UncommonGoods Community Moderator
Thanks for the question! The flower pattern is 9" x 5" and the circle pattern is 7.5" x 4.5". We'll add this info to product copy.

beautiful!

It really is beautiful and the price is nice too but I don't seriously think that it took some poor 15-year-old girl in Peru only 34 dollars worth of her time to make this plus all the materials and dyes and shipping and whatnot cost a lot more than $34 just for us to even look at it. I love it, but as crazy as it might sound, it should cost more.

Laaaame and overpriced! What's not to love?

Though this is pretty, it's way too expensive, and not unique or clever.

The one thing I would do to improve this is add a simple strap to make it a wristlet. Keep it at the same pricepoint, though.

Not for $34

If included in the catalogue, I would definitely include the "fair trade" comment. Although, this isn't my personal style because it uses wool, it's cute, artsy and hand-made.

Not that great to be $34 plus shipping and handling. Not cute.

I really like them but wouldn't pay that much for a small wristlet.

These are very cute. I especially like the flowered one, but they are just too expensive. I get that it's for impoverished artists and all, but I could buy the same thing at a local crafts fair for a lot less.

They're lovely and I really love helping fair trade and local craftspeople, but they're WAY too expensive.

Wool is a very common allergy, Offering in other types of fabrics would be a plus.

Thanks for the question, Judith. They are lined. The circle pouch features a black lining and the floral pouch features a blue lining.

I'm not ultra-crazy about the designs... Handmade items are fantastic, but these seem to be a "miss" in my book.

I think that are beautiful, fairly priced and would make a wonderful gift (to myself also!) I really appreciate the story behind them which is also why I think they are fairly priced.

They are really beautiful and would make lovely gifts. Having said that, I knit, crochet and embroider and the price on these is just too high. Perhaps $24 for the circles and $28 for the flowers would be more in line with what people would be willing to spend

I love these! Great that they are make under fair trade practices. They are fairly pricey, but we are so used to cheap products, mass produced in China (and then complain about things being made in China), that we don't have a real understanding of what things actually cost if made individually with sustainable materials. Bravo for potentially offering this!
