A Peace of the Past
Few people today may recall the Greek goddess Eirene, and yet all of us still seek her in our lives: her name literally means "peace." Eirene brought an end to conflict, and ushered in seasons of harmony and abundance.
Mary Steratore's divine necklace is made to invite that same spirit of peace into your own life. The sculptural silver pendant captures Eirene's face in a moment of perfect serenity, framed by the flowing sweep of her hair. It's paired with a small charm of amethyst—a stone traditionally believed to support feelings of peace, balance and inner strength. The stone is hand cut and mounted in silver. Steratore's necklaces are truly global creations: the molds are made in Italy, the silver charms are cast in Thailand, the semi-precious stone charms are made in India, and the silver ball chain is made in USA.

Mary Steratore
It can be quite daunting trading one career for another, especially when there are PhD's involved. But for Mary Steratore, it led to the realization of true artistic expression. Leaving archaeology to create her own fine art, Steratore settled in Rome where her paintings and sculptures were well-received. After showing her work all over Italy and the US, she developed a new line of jewelry, dubbed b.u., as an extension of her sculpting. Drawing from Steratore's vast knowledge of artifacts and her extensive world travels, b.u. creations have an old-world aesthetic. Each piece is meticulously hand-made using a long-lost wax-casting method. With the help of Rome's top notch artisans, Steratore brings a little beauty and a lot of ancient wisdom into everyday, modern lives. See all creations.

Although the goddess Eirene is not as recognizable as the traditional peace sign, her message is one in the same. Mary Steratore's sterling silver depiction of Eirene (complete with an amethyst) is a subtler way to wear the message of peace. What other goddesses would you like to see represented in this line?

I like the concept of goddess jewelry, but I find the face a little odd looking

Can't tell what it is if someone is wearing it, I think. I'm not into obviously pagan stuff.

Not very ethereal looking for a goddess...not quite my style either. Might work for some but to me just looks poorly crafted.

Face in pendant is odd looking, not cute and the chain looks cheap and like it belongs with dog tags.

Something not quite right about the face.

really odd looking. The face looks vague and smushy

nope, you'd have to tell everyone what it was supposed to be.

I like the meaning behind it, but the necklace itself isn't that appealing-not even the chain.
Judith
Oh! I like this. And who doesn't need a little more peace?

I don't see "perfect serenity" here - I wouldn't wear something ugly around my neck.

I like goddess jewelry however this piece does not have an appealing profile. The chain does not fit a goddess theme.

Again, love the idea, but the face is too stylized to be attractive to wear.

Really weird looking face. Wouldn't buy.
