Tropical Delight

Who couldn't use a vacation right now? Just picture it: stretched out in a cabana chair, surf crashing against the white sand beach nearby, you sip from a chilled glass with a tiny umbrella in it and enjoy the glow of the tropical sun. You're feeling more relaxed already, right?

With this mai tai-inspired lamp, Artist Heather Wells figured out how to capture the glow of an island paradise anytime you want, without having to take a day off of work. The shade is made from tiny cocktail umbrellas, which she collects from friends and restaurants. She coats them in a protective resin, and dips the tip of each one in phosphorescent paint, so they continue to shine like little stars once the lights are turned down. The base, in vibrant tiki blue, was custom designed by Heather and manufactured in China. Shade is handmade in North Attleboro, MA.

Exclusively at UncommonGoods.

25W candelabra bulb included.

Each is one-of-a-kind and will vary slightly.

Heather Wells

It began as a project in her senior year at the Rhode Island School of Design in 2002, but creating her unique and colorful lamp collection soon became Heather Wells' full-time job! Using drink umbrellas collected from friends and local restaurants, each of Wells' handmade creations is truly a one-of-a-kind piece. Heather had so much fun designing and handcrafting these lighting fixtures, she couldn't help but make it her calling. See all creations.
