On the Dot

This oblong walnut cutting board features a matrix of concave indentations that serve as tiny bowls to catch crumbs produced by slicing bread. When you’re done slicing, simply brush or wipe the collection of crumbs away. The smoothly finished, rounded board incorporates a convenient handle at one end for hanging or carrying. The dots are painted white to form a contrasting pattern against the dark, oiled walnut, adding a decorative dimension to this slice of form-meets-function. Makes a great hostess or housewarming gift for your matrix of family and friends. Handmade by David Rasmussen in Colorado.

David Rasmussen

Raised and educated in New England, David was exposed to the Northeast's rich culture of fine furniture making from a young age. Trained by furniture masters Wayne Marcoux and Dan Mosheim, David learned about composition and construction techniques, focusing primarily on mid-century modern, Ming Dynasty, and contemporary American studio furniture.

David's avant-garde approach to developing his style led him to serve as the lead carpenter for Vermont's Forever Young Treehouses, building handicap-accessible projects in Los Angeles, Chicago, Cincinnati and Pennsylvania. David returned to his roots in furniture after a few years of building tree houses, bringing with him the organic understanding that is required for building in the trees. collection
