Gary Hirsch

As a nightmare-prone kid, Gary Hirsch would stay up late with his father sketching monsters from his dreams. Over time, young Gary would be haunted less frequently by giant, grabby hands and zombie-populated graveyards, but his love for art would only get stronger as he grew older. Now, in full control of his vivid imagination, a public works commissioned artist, improviser and professional creative consultant, Hirsch takes pride in making interactive objects that are both cool-looking and useful. Hirsch's Domino Bots are fun tokens that can be taken anywhere, anytime to help motivate and lift the spirit. Every Time Bot, Joy Bot, Brave Bot and Listening Bot are hand-painted in Oregon by the man himself and is as unique as each individual owner.

I have all four and carry them with me everywhere. Gave them as gifts to my teenage daughters friends. they are all the rage.

I received my first bot as a gift. He sits at my desk, celebrates my successful and every once in awhile telepathically shares with me some of the excellent traits he has observed in my behavior. So, of course, I purchased four more bots to share with friends and family. They may just change the world, one person at a time!

My robot has gone with me on every work gig (and personal trip now that I think about it) since he arrived at Christmas time - and when the going gets rough, I actually peek at him and wait for a compliment.

These are so cute. I think even children would love to play with these. Maybe if we could get children to play with something other TV gsames...they would discover a whole new world.

These domino bots are wonderful! To those who are indifferent to their adorableness I say, your heart is COLD, you philistine! If these become available I ABSOLUTELY will buy them, for myself and for others!

I think these would be great for an inspirational gift to anyone of any age.

I love these! My friend gave me one (she knows the creator) that she thought looked like my hubby. It was in a little box sitting next to my computer to brighten up my day, when my hubby saw it and took it to work with him! Now he has a mini him at work getting him through his day. They seem kind of silly when you hear the idea, but when you actually hold and see one, they are pretty amazing. Could be a great product line!

What's better than a bot you can fit in your pocket that listens, provides joy, time, and makes you feel brave? Couldnt we all use a little of these things.. .and doesnt a bot only lead to the real thing? it did for me.

    arnie

these are great. I want one along for the ride, where-ever I go

I have one of these and I can't say enough about how special he is. Who would have thought a little character on a domino could wield such power!? Within a couple of days of putting him on my desk I found myself looking forward to getting to work every morning to see what my little JoyBot would have to say to me. I find myself starting my day with a big smile. Even in those long, boring meetings, I find myself smiling because I have this little guy to remind me not to take it all too seriously.

These look awesome, but for $15 each? If they're the same size as a regular domino then I think I'd be pretty disappointed. $15 for the set was still kind of a hard swallow, but I'd do it for these pretty awesome pieces.

Cute AND unique. Right up your alley. Maybe a little pricey if you're only getting one of them.

    Kate

Cute as a bug's ear! A tad pricey, but I agree; selling them as a set would be great.

    Mandy
    Vote: Thumbs up!

I agree that the price is steep. I would love it if I could choose what number(s) appeared on the back also. It would be cute to have a Dad Bot or Mom Bot to make a parent smile while at work. Or a Teacher Bot/Principal Bot, even a Student Bot that a teacher could hand to a student that needed a pick-me-up or as a game to give them permission to speak. Really cute ideas, just needs to cater to the client a little more (price, options of Bots, numbers, etc.) :)

i agree that the price is too high for just one. and it would be great to offer them as a set of 4! they are adorable!

    Nancy

Cute, but way too expensive for cute - but useless.

    alex

Cute! Great for that person who deserves a quirky gift.

    Janet E.

What I like about these "Bots" is that they are authentic, one-of-a-kind art. Someone thumbing them down wrote that they are like pet rocks! How silly! Pet rocks were, um, ROCKS. In a cage, with easter egg grass. Please. These are so cool and creative and NOT kitschy - I have one and it looks really cool on my mantel.

Original art @ $15 - better than a few lattes to improve your day, week, year!

    Paul
    Vote: Thumbs up!

I don't really understand the negative comments. It's a one-of-a-kind piece of art, and a domino is the canvas. There aren't too many one-of-one art pieces you can buy out there for $15, particularly from an established artist.

Great illustrations, but rather useless objects that add to the future junk in the world. Perhaps work with Oregon ceramicists to create a more useful stoneware object that the same great illustrations could be applied to. Let Walmart do the supporting of China.
