Fashion Plate

A radiant glimpse of history, this beautiful and delicate glass necklace is handmade in Pennsylvania by artist Laura Bergman from the salvaged remains of vintage dinner plates. Both the opaque and clear glass design, which bears its original Cherry Blossom embossed pattern, was made in great quantities during the 1930s and 40s, and is now known as Depression glass.

Scouring the rural woodlands of Pennsylvania Amish Country to collect shards posing an environmental hazard to local wildlife, Bergman carefully cleans and sands each artful morsel into a luminous pendant that preserves the original character of the historic glass. Each piece is finished with sterling silver wire. Sold separately. Due to the reclaimed nature of this necklace, each piece will vary.

Laura Bergman

An avid antique glass and bottle collector, artist Laura Bergman lives near a wooded area with multiple antique bottle dumps. "It always bothered me how, as a collector, we take away the pretty whole bottles, but leave the broken pieces behind," she says. See all creations.
