On The Wings Of Love

Help your favorite newlyweds build their nest with this charming bowl by Tasha McKelvey. Highlighted by a lustrous glaze and sweet hand-sculpted details, two love birds finished in your choice of color perch on the side of the stoneware dish, holding a scrolling banner to announce the new couple's first names (up to 12 characters each), followed by the date they said "I do." The curving design is a fitting vessel for side dishes, candy, or even small treasured trinkets, while the thoughtful design lends keepsake appeal. Handmade in Virginia.

“Being an artist is as much a part of my identity as being female. I really can't imagine a life where I am not creating.”

Tasha McKelvey likes to get personal. "My greatest hope for my work is that it lives in the homes and hearts of the owners as a reminder of the most special moments in their lives," she says. Her handcrafted, often personalized ceramics are born of specific moments in her life, too. Designs tend to arise from places that recall times of yore—picture books from her childhood, or the Christmas markets of northern Europe she’s visited. Her wonder, in turn, produces more. "I love when families with small children receive a piece of my pottery that features little birds, gnomes, or such and the kids give them names," she says. "It's just so precious.”
