Artist and designer Laurel Denise creates glass pendant jewelry with a dreamy, mysterious, vintage-meets-modern look. Perhaps it is all the more fitting that her idea for this line of jewelry came to her in a dream.
After working in the corporate world for three years, she ditched her job to pursue a more creative life. Denise turned a small room into a studio and over several months developed her unique line from glass, sketches and beautiful gemstone, silver and gold accents.
The images on each piece is hand drawn by Denise on a tiny piece of paper with a tiny permanent pen. She hand cuts pieces of translucent glass by smoothing cutting and using small drills.
The image is placed between the glass and melted into a special compound that makes each pendant waterproof, durable, and smooth. Denise then adds the final touches of a chain or gemstone.
Denise graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA with a studio art degree. She was raised in Charlottesville, VA and has lived in Hoboken, NJ for two years.
