Heart-to-Chart

Whether you're a world away from your island home or it's been years since you made the trek to your family's annual summer getaway, with one of these clever accessories you can still keep the memory of these cherished, maritime spots on hand. In each of these bold mementos, clippings from reproduced nautical charts are customized to the coordinates of your choosing, sealed, set in a bronze bezel and connected with a durable climbing robe cord. With your most cherished stretch of the big blue scaled down into a bold and durable keepsake, you can anchor your fondest memories of this most treasured spot to your daily attire. Handmade by Charlotte Guptill in the USA.

International locations available, but maps may be less detailed.

To wear the rope bracelet, place the button bezel on top of the wrist with the rope dangling off of wrist to one side. Wrap the rope under the wrist, back around the top past the bezel, under again and back to the bezel, essentially wrapping the rope around the wrist twice. Now button the bezel through the loop in the rope. As necessary, the length of the rope can be adjusted to size to the appropriate length to fit the wrist. The rope can be lengthened by pulling the slipknot away from the bezel (making the loop smaller), or shortened by pulling the slipknot towards the bezel (making the loop larger). The first time, you'll need to adjust the rope back and forth a bit to size, but once set, the knot stays in place maintaining the size.

John and Charlotte Guptill

Charlotte Guptill was inspired by her love of sailing to incorporate nautical charts into her designs in 2006. In 2009, with the assistance of her then fiancé', John, Charlotte formally launched CHART Metalworks on Custom House Wharf, not far from their home on Portland, Maine's peninsula.

Now, with the help of a talented pack of Maine-based artisans, and sometimes some distraction from their Corgi-Terrier Mix, Riley, the husband and wife team handcraft custom nautical chart and map adornments in their studio on Portland, Maine's working waterfront.

Each unique piece is hand-cast. The chart or map images are hand cut and hand placed. Each piece is topped with a boaters resin creating a natural dome, magnifying the artwork below. collection

Comments about CUSTOM MAP NAUTICAL BRACELET:

I purchased this bracelet with my mother and my family in mind. I live in NY and she lives in Chile, South America. I've visited once and absolutely loved the country and of course, my mother's side of the family. I miss them terribly and thought this was an awesome way to have them close to me always. I wish the "border" lines would have come in darker, but I did OK the preview that was sent to me, so I guess that was my mistake. Overall, I am in LOVE with my purchase.

Comments about CUSTOM MAP NAUTICAL BRACELET:

this bracelet was difficult to put back together once you untied it in order to change the sizing. It is not user friendly. Though I have often bought gifts from this firm, and been satisfied or pleased -- I felt the bracelet was over priced and looked cheap. My husband's daughter was unable to get the bracelet to hold and tie together after she pulled it apart in order to make it fit her small wrist. We even had a professional jeweler try to help us. It is poorly designed and is a disappointment for the money spent.

Comments about CUSTOM MAP NAUTICAL BRACELET:

Once it was taken out of the box, there is no way to figure out how to put in around my wrist so that part of it is hanging down. Wish it had come with instructions on how to "weave" the rope so it looks like it does in the pictures. It is well made, but so small that you can't read the "location". Would not have ordered it if I had realized how small it is and no instructions about the rope.
