CURVY VASE

Curves Ahead
Flaunt curves with ceramist Kim Westad's porcelain vase. A glossy, clear glaze on the surface accentuates a modern design of ascending, nestled edges. Its modern, eye-grabbing form makes it a stand-alone accent for end tables or shelves, while an inside water-tight seal puts it center stage (or table) as a sophisticated vessel for fresh-picked flowers. Handmade in New York. Sold separately.

Kim Westad
Formerly a graphic designer, Kim Westad discovered her affinity for throwing clay after joining a well-timed pottery class a friend suggested she take. Westad soon left her graphic design career for the world of ceramics. A year later she moved to Brooklyn, where she apprenticed under established artists, ultimately launching her own studio in 2004.
All of Westad's work begins on the wheel, where pieces take shape with inspirational cues from the human body, nature, architecture and modern industrial design. While striking, modern form takes precedence in Westad's work, she often incorporates textural elements like unglazed raw clay when presenting her vessels. See all creations.
