In 2005, Heather Cardenas was a hard-working algebra teacher in Albuquerque, NM, looking for something to do over a quiet winterbreak. She happened across a candle making kit in a store, bought it on a whim, and a new creative passion was discovered. Cardenas learned her craft through trial and error, and by 2007 was taking her handmade candles to craft fairs. As New Mexico Candle Company, she seeks to create candles that can't be found anywhere else, reflecting New Mexico culture and her own creative flair.
