One for the Road
These stylish coasters combine contemporary design with some solid street cred. Sturdy concrete is put to a brilliant use, with an embossed hexagon pattern that brings a playful visual texture to the soothing gray surface. Each coaster has four cork feet that keep it up off of your surfaces. Made in Plum Island, MA.

Jordan Castro
The Culinarium product line is the manifestation of Jordan Castro's to create beautiful and meticulously crafted, hand-made products for cooking and entertaining.
Before starting Culinarium, Jordan had a business, which produced sculptural and architectural pre-cast concrete elements. While working on larger scale projects, he always wanted to develop a concrete mix that would be sophisticated enough to be used for much more diminutive and detailed wares like those that are now created at Culinarium. It took Jordan almost ten years of testing and tweaking to develop the mix that is now used. Indeed, it took a long time to develop the processes that is now employed, but as far as he is concerned, it was worth the wait! See

These solid coasters may be made out of tough concrete, but they're attractive enough to look lovely in your home. Do you love this heavy-duty design?

How likely would the concrete break if someone was tipsy and caused the coaster to fall off a table?

I like the innovative use but if you lose even one of the cork feet I see this scratching a lot of surfaces. Also, potential for scratching your glasses.

Hi, Rochelle. Thanks for the question! We reached out to the maker of these coasters to get some more information and they said that they haven't had any customer complaints of damages or breakage.

Can they scratch the glass?
Cassie, UncommonGoods
Good question, Louise. The coasters are smooth on the top, so they won't scratch your glass.
Cassie, UncommonGoods
Thanks, Patricia! The glass picture is from the Cirrus Tumblers Set, which is now available for purchase.

This is a little too contemporary for my taste.
