Acoustic Revelation

When was the last time the sight and sound of a pair of speakers made you sit up and take notice? These innovative Ceramic Speakers from designer and former UncommonGoods copywriter Joey Roth are about to do just that.

With porcelain and cork enclosures, custom-made drivers and a Tripath amplifier, this is an audiophile's dream. The high-resolution sound has such nuance and depth that you'll be able to hear the difference between CD and MP3 quality, and just wait until you dust off the old vinyl!

The Ceramic Speakers connect directly to iPods and other digital music players to form an elegant, minimal music system. Their sound becomes even more dynamic when paired with a turntable and a phono pre-amp. They also connect directly to computers, laptops and televisions, providing a vast improvement over built-in speakers.

Furthermore, the Ceramic Speakers are practically a work of post-modern art. Just as they expose the true sound of your music, they proudly put their components on display: cork, Baltic birch, sheet metal, cast iron and hand-crafted ceramic from a small studio in Taiwan. Aside from the electronic components, there's no plastic here. This is music and design the way it should be: the real thing, back to basics, and absolutely breathtaking.

Joey Roth

Brooklyn designer (and former UncommonGoods copywriter), Joey Roth uses stories as the initial sketches for his designs. He thinks about characters, scenes and conversations, then designs an object that will feed this narrative. He's fascinated by the meanings that designed objects convey and by ritual behavior.
