Cup o' Cozy

Trust these cuddly creatures to keep your favorite beverage warm on a chilly day. The food-safe porcelaneous stoneware cups fit perfectly into hands both big and small—and the soft animal characters created by Alison Kaplan add a little color to every mug of tea or hot chocolate. The artist hand dyes each piece of wool and hand- and machine-stitches each critter-themed cozy, while a local potter hand-throws every soft-white glaze cup. Collect the entire zoo! These hand-thrown ceramic mugs are lovely on their own, but the adorable felt cozies make them even more delightful! Do you prefer a mug with a cuddly creature or one with a calm nature scene, like this apple tree?

These are really cute. My only concern is...are the cozies washable? I'd worry they'd get stained immediately by hot chocolate if I couldn't rinse them after use.

What a clever little item! So cute!

I have an earlier version of the cup/cozy from a few years ago. Here are the care instructions: "Items made with hand-dyed wool felt can be delicate. If they become soiled, gently spot wash with cold water by hand. Detergents can cause the wool to fade, so use caution and test in an inconspicuous area first. Do not place items in the dryer; they will shrink. Kata Golda accepts no responsibility for how items react when laundered; please do so with care and at your own risk."

Cynthia

We love Kata Golda's hand crafted and heart felt pieces. The colors and characters bring warmth and fun to our every day. We will have to try these cup cozies - perfect for a cup of tea on a winter's day!

Thanks for sharing those care instructions, Amos!

This cup with creative felt cozy has more uses than holding beverages--holding flowers, coins--you name it. I love the colors and hand-stitched designs of these roducts!

Kate

I love these and all Kata Golda items in general. Made by hand in Washington State from all natural materials. Super cute designs. The care instructions in the new Kata Golda catalog say that these can be handwashed in cold water and hung to air dry.

Cute, but wicked easy to make if you're crafty. Maybe a diy kit would be more fun?

They are very nice. I think they would be too hard to keep clean.

my daughter is a banger and a throw, this would not last

I'm a guy. The girls will like them, though.

They're simple and sweet - I like them! Does the cozy cover the bottom? If so then they come with their own coaster - another thumbs up.

I want handles on my cups

They're super cute but not very practical. Also, I see my kids (6, 3, 1) grabbing it and the cup slipping out.

Linda

Too hard to keep the cozies clean

ellen

adorable and practical.

I'd buy this as a gift for someone but not for myself. Super cute!

The images are adorable...the simple lines of the mugs are great...but delicate felt and hot chocolate just don't mix!

They're cute, but impractible, so a toddler. No lid, and stoneware?

breakable cups are a bad idea for children

Cassie, UncommonGoods Community Moderator

Thanks for all of your questions and comments! The cozies do have bottoms, so the cups won't slide out, and the felt will absorb moisture. The cups are made of stoneware, so they are sturdy, but can still break and aren't meant for very small children. Luckily, older kids and adults can appreciate cute designs too.

Looks like they are made for boys only. And very hard to keep clean.

They are very cute, but too small for a "real" drink and they would get dirty and felt can't be washed very well.

donna

they are cute, but too small for a real drink, and too hard to clean, they'd get terribly dirty with spills, etc.

donna
Vote: Thumbs down!

they'd get very messy and felt can't be washed, not for kids. too small for adult drinks.

I can foresee the beverage contents spilling onto the cozies and staining it. I see it is wool and will not wash well.

love the look but doesn't seem practical

I'm a BIG fan of Kata Golda's products! All our well made and beautiful. I would love to own this set!

Catherine
Vote: Thumbs down!

I'd prefer to have a cozie that would fit on my own mugs rather than having to add to my already extensive collection. I think that's a bit limiting.

Why would you give ceramic cups to kids?? These are clearly for adults not kids.

Jeremie

I jad a plastic / rubber one, the cloth here would be better

um. why?

These are adorable! Unique, too. Fun for kids and adults alike...though more practically for kids a little older.

It looks like a camp craft. How long will the felt last with liquids.

Is the felt machine washable?

Lois

Love the felt. don't like the cups.

A very sweet and pretty item. The cleaning process (in a comment below) seems rather high-maintenance, esp when dealing with children! Still, a great idea for warm drinks or soups. This would have brightened my day as a little girl if I were home sick for the day.

just clutter

Kristin

Adorable, but there is no way I'd be able to keep that cozie looking nice for long. Given the care instructions, it's a "no" for me. Would not let my kid use it either for the likely price point - too easy to break or stain.

too cutesy for me, besides on a cold day I like the feel of a warm mug in my hand

I'd be concerned about cleaning these cute cozies.

I LOVE these! I love soft glazes and would be happy to use the cup all by itself. The cozies are adorable and I appreciate that they are hand dyed REAL wool felt. The frog is my favorite--the interesting line quality gives him so much character.

They're cut, but I feel every mug for hot beverages should have a handle. Wool based felt also doesn't seem like the best idea for a hot beverage container.

These are adorable. I would just want to have the cups a little bigger.

Katina

This would be nice to give to a child 8yrs and up.

Rachelle
Vote: Thumbs down!

These are super cute but don't seem practical. The felt would get dirty and they seem pretty small. Love the design but don't want to have one more thing to wash.

Lauren
Vote: Thumbs up!

These are great. I love the very simple, plain form of the cups themselves. The felt cozies look very well made, are extremely adorable and are absolutely unique.

amanda

love the handmade look of these!

Chris
Vote: Thumbs down!

Looks like something my kids would make in elementary school.

Eugenie
Vote: Thumbs down!

I like the idea but don't think that it's practical. If the felt gets wet with tea or chocolate it will stain and won't come out.

alena
Vote: Thumbs down!

Looks kind of gaudy due to the stitching on the cozy and they look like something that would be overly priced.

Jennifer
Vote: Thumbs up!

another winner for the kids

donna
Vote: Thumbs down!

Cute but not practical.

Wendi

Again i agree with Erica. These are adorable but wonder how well they would hold up.

Allison

I think the cups are cute, I like that they are handle-free, but I do think the cozies would stain too easily. If they could be made out of a material that was machine washable, that'd be a huge plus!
