Suiting For A Song
Whistle while you work with this ingenious, audible tie. Woven with high-tech fabric made from prerecorded audio-cassette tapes, this hand-sewn accessory is a limited-edition project which spins songs that suit you.
Prerecorded with Between Stations, an album of sampled sounds collected from New York City streets and subway stations, each tie reveals its unique soundtrack when running a tape head over its special fabric. Half recorded tape, half polyester--and all genius-- this glinty accessory takes performance art to a new level.
Inspired by the sound of Buddhist prayer flags and sailboat tell-tails, artist Alyce Santoro sought to create an everyday item with the same audible effect. Designer Julio Cesar adapts Santoro's textile in this smart, everyday tie. Fabric made in Rhode Island, hand-sewn in New York.
