As a teenager Chuck worked building and repairing boat sails in Yarmouth, Maine. When his grandfather's old leather wallet fell apart, he crafted a new one from scrap sailcloth and the first flowfold wallet was born. Over the next six years, Chuck built hundreds of prototype wallets, carefully refining the flowfold design. In 2011 Chuck founded Flowfold as an ecologically conscious company interested in local productivity. Since earning a civil engineering degree from the University of Maine Chuck's been designing products and leading production at Flowfold.

Go With the Billfold
Like traveling light? You'll love the Flowfold wallet which weighs less than three sheets of paper and yet is made from fibers more durable than steel. Designer Charles Friedman worked as a sail maker in Maine when he was a teenager and designed his first wallet from scrap sailcloth when his grandfather's leather wallet fell apart. Friedman quickly discovered that the high-tech industrial fabric used for the finest racing sails was ideal for steering valuables through all sort of weather. Hundreds of designs and refinements later, his ultra-modern, eco-friendly, and water-resistant wallets have become design legends for their stylish sensibility and their superior strength.
His original billfold wallet is roomy enough for cash, cards, and two IDs, and yet remains compact in your pocket. Pack the billfold for your travels and sail through whatever comes your way in style. Handsewn in Maine.
