Brian Mock
From his workspace in Portland, OR, where discarded materials emerge as works of inspired art, Brian Mock weaves his industrial magic to the delight of all around him. Of course, it's not really anything supernatural that allows Mock to create what many have dubbed as metalic masterpieces, but a commitment to precision and detail on every one of his creations. The end result is something to behold, a means of finding beauty where you might least expect it. Mock begins by sketching out a rudimentary design, or framework for what's to come, then measures each part to ensure a perfect fit, both aesthetically and practically. See all creations.

I don't hate it, but I don't love it. I think it could be executed in a better fashion.

I think its pretty cool, but at the same time i think the price is a little high... and those are brand new supplies and not recycled and that kind of seems wasteful...

Beautiful bowl! I love the way recycled metal is used here to make a piece of functional art!

the parts are recycled, read the product story. i think it's super cool, love the contrasting patterns from looking outside and inside. outside looks like a crazy honeycomb pattern and inside looks like molecules. very neat. great job!

That's just nuts....but still a thing of beauty. Can't count how many nuts it takes to make the bowl but anyone who can do this would probably be successful at teaching a herd of cats to march in step.

What ELSE would one do with an unlimited supply of acorn nuts? Beauty, eh?

Go to any flea market and some old guy is selling these for half the price and they're made here!

Neat idea, but couldn't the price be lowered?

I like this but when you think about the materials that have been used its kinda hard to shell out almost $100 for caps.

This is great! I think people should think a little more about the process that goes into this. It's very impressive that it's totally welded by hand, piece by piece. Any welder knows that the artist is actually underselling this, based on the time and work put into it. Isn't this what this site is about anyway? Paying a little more in appreciation for the handmade, artistic, uniqueness of a piece? Thumbs way up! And let's see more stuff like this!

We're glad to see so many voters going nuts over this bowl! The artist, Brian Mock, got a hefty supply of cap nuts when a local machine shop received a water-damaged shipment. The shop couldn't use the nuts, but Brian can! Each of these recycled masterpieces is handmade in Portland.
