Enamored with what he calls "forgotten technology," Karl Zahn strives to turn back the clock on contemporary design with some traditional aesthetic principals. Alum of the Rhode Island School of Design, Zahn worked as an Architectural Fabricator in San Francisco before going on to study Danish furniture in Copenhagen. Believing that technology progresses too quickly for people to properly explore their full potential, Zahn actively creates pieces that walk the line between old-fashioned and contemporary, all the while drawing heavily from Danish history and industrial craft.

Inspired by ancient-carving techniques, Karl Zahn's beechwood Bull and Bear boxes are a nod to old-fashioned, minimalist design with a secret compartment to guard important small objects. Whether on a desk or a shelf, each is a sculpture with a hiding spot and both can be positioned as indicators of the current market trend. Handmade from new growth beech wood in China.
