Christine has been working as an artist all of her adult life, beginning with the designing of silk-screened clothing, then jewelry design and for the past 18 years in the creation of these wonderful framed dioramas. As people view her work a smile usually appears on their face as feelings of nostalgia and a yearning for the simpler things in life overcome them. Images of a sunny day at the beach, a country carnival, a drive-in movie, grandmas cottage in autumn, camping out, a honeymoon at Niagara Falls or a bicycle ride in the countryside. All these images and so many more portray her inner self, expressed in her art. Christine’s hope is that you also will take moments in this busy world to reflect on and enjoy the simpler things in life.
A Walk Along Memory Lane
Like a miniature theater, artist Christine Schukow's diorama tells a story, recreating the nostalgic charm of the Brooklyn Bridge in the 1950s. She sets the stage by pairing a reproduction of a vintage photo from her private collection with mid-century figurines, each perfectly placed to look like they're walking beneath the gothic arches, en route to the city. For lovers of the Big Apple, history buffs, or anyone crossing toward their next adventure, this limited edition piece makes a treasured gift. Arrives matted, framed and ready for hanging. Made in New York.
