BIRD PROJECT SOAP - LOVEBIRD

BIRD PROJECT SOAP - LOVEBIRD
$30.00

Each black, bird shaped soap contains a white, ceramic bird, handmade from Louisiana Clay, which remains as a keepsake once the outer soap has washed away. The soap comes in an attractive, recycled cardboard box with information regarding the cause.

Pure Love

There is a special romance to the bayous of Louisiana, where each inch seems to teem with life. But even such an ancient sanctuary can be threatened—as in 2010, when an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico sent toxins and pollutants out into the area waterways.

This unique, artisanal soap represents that regions ongoing healing process. It's crafted by Emily Manger Davis, a third-generation soap maker in New Orleans. A glycerin soap with a light cypress scent and ingredients such as fair trade olive oil and aloe, it derives its unusual color from activated charcoal, a natural purifying agent. But as that oil slick darkness is slowly washed away with use, within is revealed a white ceramic bird. Artist Tippy Tippens crafts each bird from real Louisiana clay, and accents it with a heart—a sweet symbol of love's ability to endure. Handmade in New Orleans.
