Nosh On Cloud Nine.
Growing up in the rural South, Mitzi Davis spent many lazy summer days climbing fragrant magnolia trees and chasing lightning bugs at night. Her nostalgia for these many other memorable scenes can be found imbedded in her whimsical pieces. Mitzi's imagination truly takes flight in this dinner set, where sculpture meets supper in the form of shapely clouds and abstracted birds. Mitzi's pieces have a rich, unique texture resulting from several oxidation firings that seal in layers of under- and over-glazes as well as a handful of sketches that look as if they've been plucked directly from her imagination. Her sky blue dinner set shows you that the sky's the limit when it comes to creative entertaining. Handmade in Savannah, Georgia.

Mitzi Davis' pieces may look like clouds, but they're helping improve our sunny disposition! Does this semi-finalist have your vote?

These are just gorgeous. I hope you think about a price for a set as well as individual pieces.

Mitzi is an amazing artist! She creates unique pieces that stray from typical concepts and this dinnerware set is sure to be the topic of conversation at any dinner party.

Charming, but better suited to children and made of a child-safe material.

I do love the design, but it just seems impractical to me. Since it's earthenware, I'm assuming it's not dishwasher safe. If it was, I could see some problems in effectively loading the dishwasher with these in it. I could see these as an occasional set, but it's too much for me to only use sometimes, and have room to store it too.

I love this idea but it does seem kid-ish. They seem hard to eat off of; the color blue is also an appetite suppressant, so I don't know how much eating would occur.

Kinda pricey, unless you can purchase only what you'd like or need.

If it was a different color scheme and pattern I would buy them. It's the shape that makes these great dishes. This theme wouldn't compliment anyone's kitchen. Ugly.

I agree that the pattern and colors do not compliment the cool design.

Whimsical and funtional. I like this a lot. The price is set right also.

I might buy one or two items as focal pieces but they look too hard to get the food out of and clean for actual eating. Very attractive, though.

Hi everyone! Thank you for your comments and criticisms. It gives me many more ideas on how these pieces could be improved. I am testing a cone 6 porcelain clay body to create this set so they can be used in modern appliances. As far as cleaning, because of the glossy glaze, a quick soak in water would allow any stubborn food to be easily removed. For the color scheme, I could always change color palette or decal design depending on customer desire. :) Thanks again for all the input!

Love the mid-century look and the color. But the price keeps it out of my gift range

I adore this. I would totally buy it. "Face in the clouds" would be a witty-ish name for it ;)

I like most things that are whimsical, but these seem like a logistical headache. For one, how would you fit them into the cupboards with other dishes?

it's cool, but not something i'd buy. it's also way too expensive.

cute but expensive and impractical.

Agree with what most people have said. I think that these would go a lot farther if they were designed to be serving platters or serving bowls, then you could use them occasionally and the price would be more reasonable for a few pieces rather than trying to afford a dinner set.

i LOVE the colors and the design but it's way too expensive.

These are probably worth the price - although the black glazing looks uneven in the second picture, and personally I'd prefer if the cloud sketches were removed. Just my two cents.
Michelle
Pretty colors and beautiful design..just not practical..maybe for children
