beauty in every shadowby Dolan Geiman
- the story
Wisdom & Whimsy
An owl is a creature that waits for the cloak of darkness to make an appearance, and for many, spotting one is all but impossible if not its characteristic hoot. Inspired by the owl's fondness for the night, Dolan Geiman created this stunning collage from zig-zag and scalloped cuts of vibrant paper.
Geiman constructs the entire bird, from his expressive face to his leafy perch, using carefully cut pieces of magazines spreads and newspapers clippings in autumnal hues to give depth, dimensionality, and a fall tone to his offbeat animal study. Each box print edition is a refined reproduction of an original Dolan Geiman artwork that has been digitally printed directly onto a wood panel. Limited edition of 750. Signed and numbered on the back. A ready-to-hang print alternative. Made in Chicago, Illinois.

Dolan Geiman is a nationally recognized mixed media artist known for his Contemporary Art with a Southern Accent. Born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Dolan Geiman’s formative years were defined by outdoor adventures in his bucolic surroundings. Twenty-plus years later, the flora and fauna, found curiosities, and fading Appalachian culture still define Geiman’s contemporary-folk creations. Trained in printmaking and sculpture, Geiman’s mediums span painting, collage, silk screen, drawing, and 3-D assemblage. An advocate for green design and sustainable business, Geiman and his wife Ali Marie currently work from a green warehouse in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood. collection
