Please Pass The Avocado
Always in seasoning, this glossy avocado shakes up dinner with original design. Cast from real avocados by artist Daina Platais, each earthenware set mimics the ridges and curves of the real thing. Grab its pit to pepper your plate or help yourself to a serving of salt by shaking the avocado. Coated with food-safe glaze. Each is one of a kind and will vary slightly. Handmade in Brooklyn.

Daina Platais
Raised by two scientists, Daina Platais broke the mold, in more ways than one, and headed in the opposite direction professionally. fun! And made in the USA! i can see it in a fruit basket on the table! Could be a bit less expensive, though. that's the only drawback. I think $25 would be more appropriate.

The only drawback is the price. I saw something similar a few years ago at the MFA gift shop Boston and have been looking for it ever since. Lower the price and I'll buy for myself and as gifts!

These shakers are handmade by Brooklyn Artist Daina Platais, who actually uses real avocados to mold each ceramic piece, making each unique! Daina is an independent product designer and artist, so the estimated cost factors in not only the materials she uses to handcraft these functional sculptures, but also the time and effort she puts into each piece.
