Fair Game For Fair Trade
While each expertly carved playing piece is a work of art in itself, this set's true beauty is in its creation process. Handmade from balsa wood and tagua nuts--also known as "vegetable ivory" for its resemblance in feel and texture-- highly-skilled artisans sustainably harvest each batch from lush, South American forests and apply years of experience to sanding and polishing each set to life.
Each board contains a storage slot to store playing pieces, when not in use. Produced using fair trade practices which support local artisans and help improve the livelihoods and environmental stewardship of South American communities by creating income opportunities for local peoples. Handmade in Ecuador of balsa wood and tagua nuts.

Tagua nut
Tagua, also known as vegetable ivory, is a seed that comes from the Phytelephas Macrocarpa palm tree, an endangered palm tree that only grows in the tropical rainforests of the South American Pacific coasts. Etymologically, the term Phytelephas Macrocarpa is derived from the Greek phyton: plant, and elephas: elephant, making reference to the ivory. See all creations.
