Looking for a match made in heaven? Add celestial ambiance to your home or garden with the glowing follow-up to the sun jar: the moon jar!
Inside this traditional Mason jar lies a high tech solar cell, rechargeable battery and low energy LED lamps. During the day, place the jar in a sunlit area. The solar cell creates an electrical current that charges the battery over a few hours. That energy is then used at night to power the three LED lamps inside the jar. At night, the blue-colored LED lights will cast off a cool, icy glow and will look like you have captured a tiny moon in the jar.
The light sensor inside automatically activates the lights when it gets dark or lights are turned out. Since Mason jars are water tight, this light makes a great addition to your garden. Made in China.

Comments aboutMOON JAR:
This was a very cool unique gift to give my brother and sister in law living in CA. They have a beautiful garden and patio area at their front door that they like to illuminate naturally. This fits in perfectly with their design, is functional, and will remind them of my appreciation for all that they did for my wife and I for our wedding.

A great looking solar light
By Guinea from Avalon, NJ on 8/17/2009
Gift:
Yes
Pros:
Artistic Design, Convenient On/Off, Great atmosphere
Cons:
Metal clasp easily rusts
Best Uses:
Deck, Decoration, Garden, Porch
Primary use:
Personal
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments aboutMOON JAR:
Great light that comes on automatically at dusk and glows strongly for several hours. As long as it gets direct sunlight during the day, I have never had the charge run out too early. Only negative is that with outdoor use the metal clasp holding the lid on the jar begins to rust almost immediately. This doesn't affect the practical use to the light in any way.

Interesting idea, not quite as expected
By Yoplait from Arlington, VA on 7/15/2009
Gift:
Yes
Pros:
Convenient On/Off
Describe Yourself:
Bargain Hunter, Practical, Stylish
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments aboutMOON JAR:
I purchased this moon jar as a gift. I absolutely loved the idea and couldn't wait to see it in person. Well, in person it just doesn't quite live up to my expectations. It works just fine. One of the things I was disappointed with is the fact that it only turns on in the dark. The glow is too bright to sleep with. I thought it would be nice at a desk to provide an extra amount of light and glow, but it only works in the dark. The recipients eat outside a lot in the summer, so I'm thinking it will still work for them. But I had thought I might buy one for myself for indoor use, but that won't be happening.

Comments aboutMOON JAR:
I was glad to have read others' comments first or I would have sent the jars back. Mine stopped working almost immediately. There were no instructions on the box as to how it really worked. I decided to take it apart. If you tip the jar sideways, the silver plastic reflector in the clear tube drops down to the bottom of the jar. You need to reset it carefully. Then pull off the white rubber top part and replace the weak, green, Chinese battery with a fresh AA. I haven't wrestled with bulb replacement, yet. Good to go!

Unique design. The light nicely replicates moonlite. Looks great as an outside deck or porch accent light. Nice warm glow from the jar! Would buy it again.

Comments aboutMOON JAR:
I really like this product, but I actually ended up getting 2 replacements as I received "defective" items twice in a row which did not last more than 10 minutes after 8 hours of charging. Third one was the same (!), then I realized that it was the AA battery that was dying. I changed it and it now works just fine. This is probably being stocked for a long time. Before you make the return and go through all the trouble, try changing the battery.

Comments aboutMOON JAR:
The gift needs explanation which isn't such a bad thing. I took my friend into a dark room of the house to show her the moonlight. She loved it! I charged the sun jar before I presented the gift to her. It only needed an hour or so of charge. I believe it may come charged a bit already.
