The first one I ordered was plain and you wouldn't know it was from a street sign. I thought the signature was part of the recycled material until I looked online and recognized the artist name. I gave it to my sister as a gift and her grandson broke it by bending it so I'm not sure of the durability. She said it was the best backscratcher she ever had and asked where I got it so I ordered her a second one for her birthday. This one was much more colorful, looking more like a recycled sign. It's a chance you take with recycled materials which can be a con, but it makes it a little more interesting not knowing what you'll receive.

These are a lot of fun. I really wish I could choose what color I wanted. I ordered two: one was yellow (yay!) and one was white (boo!). Without knowing the product's history, you cannot tell that it came from a street sign without some distinctive color markings.

i thought it would be a stop sign because i didn't see other signs in the catalog it was a yellow sign i like that it is a recycled product

I am returning this backscratcher. I was so excited when I saw it online because I love unique gifts and this definitely fit the bill. Unfortunately you couldn't even tell it was from a street sign--the entire thing was the same color. It was pretty flimsy, and when you try to use it, it bends and doesn't apply enough pressure to give a satisfying scratch. Finally, there was a word written on the back, "Trippworx," that I thought was some manufacturing label. It was literally written in black sharpie. It was very ugly and random. Turns out it is the artist's signature (?). [...] I would not recommend this product. It does not live up to what I have come to expect from Uncommon Goods.

This is a great gift item for a gear head. Each one is unique. The one I got was made out of a stop sign. You can make out parts of the reflective letters ST and O on it. The hand design is modern and stylish. The edges are smoothed and the handle is slightly bent to make it super sturdy. I would have liked to see in not come to me wrapped in plastic. Also, I wish that who ever made it didn't write on the back of it with sharpie. (I think the company name-but it is way too large and sloppy.) No worries, just goo gone the writing off the back and you have an excellent and unique gift!

I purchased 4 of these for a thank you gift following an Recycling competition at my place of work. It was a clever way saying, "you scratched my back now I scratch yours." Everyone now keeps them at their desk and I have seen them in use at least twice. There is now way of knowing what color, or how colorful they will be. All 4 were different, and even different sizes. Clever as a gift, I don't know if I would purchase for my self.

The product shown on the website is not at all what I recieved. The website shows a colorful fun back scratcher and I recieved a rusty piece of plain metal.

I bought this backscratcher for my father. After my mom died and he no longer had her to scratch his back, he started rubbing his back on the corner of his walls. This cracks me up -- but I've been searching for a backscratcher for him and came across this one! What a great use of reusing the road signs, and a funny conversation piece! His birthday isn't for 2 more weeks, so I, of course, have tried it out and it is perfectly formed to scratch your back just like mommy used to do! You can reach all areas of your back. Mine came in black and white, and I'm very happy with it and its durability. I'm thinking of getting one for myself, and I also mentioned it to a friend and she asked for the website to get one for herself. Hmmmm, wonder if my kitties will like it...?

Finally a backscratcher that won't break. Perfect flexibility and multiple "fingers" to reach every itch. Super light. Who cares how it looks? It works really really well. Just sharp enough and perfect length.
