I got this as a gift for my cousin who is off to college next year. She absolutely loved it and has started using it already. I liked it so much, too, that I got one for myself. Being in the medical field, I am always on the lookout for products that assist or enhance a person's health and well-being. After I received the Baby Buddha, I experimented with how to hold the bowl. I discovered that this bowl fits an upturned hand perfectly. A relaxed hand isn't flat - the fingers are slightly bent as if s fist had been released. For those with arthritic hands, or sprained thumbs, holding this mug is nearly effortless. The warmth from your hot beverage is able to slowly sink into your palm and base of your thumb, providing soothing relief for achy joints. Although I am right handed, I found holding it in my left hand more comfortable - perhaps from my own overly stressed hands! If this mug is able to assist someone with one more task they can preform on their own, then it is worth its weight in gold.

I purchased these for my uncle who is very ill. The ergonomic design and ease with which they can be held while sitting on the couch or bed really make these appealing.
