Is this a drinking vessel or a brightly colored sculpture pretending to be a cup? Hand thrown and hand painted in subtle matte stripes on the outside and unusually vibrant colors on the inside, these mugs by Tammy Milani will energize your home's decor just as the coffee they hold energizes you each morning. The unique handles help you ergonomically cup the mug in the palms of your hands while the thick porcelain walls let you feel your drink's warmth without getting burned. Available in red, pistachio, violet, orange, yellow, and teal. Handmade in North Carolina. Sold individually.
The inside colors, while not bright, are tasteful and provide a morning pick-me-up even without the coffee. The outsides are rough with a pleasing feel in the hand.

I purchased this mug as a gift and was very pleased by my choice. The mug was even better than I had imagined it would be - it is beautiful and very functional. My friend was very pleased with the gift and uses it for coffee, tea and cereal on a daily basis.

The first mug was broken when it arrived and I called customer service and had a new mug the next day! I was very pleased with the service I received.

These happy-inducing handmade mugs will make you feel cozy and comfortable all by themselves. Hand-thrown and painted with vibrant colors, they are fabulous for oatmeal, hot cocoa, caffe latte, soup, ice cream... you name it! If you're in a foul mood, these mugs will cheer you up in no time. Sturdy and oversized, with a nice heft. The thumb grip is a little awkward, but I just don't use it. I cup the mug in the palm of my hand. Bottoms up!

These cups are ultra cool and funky and will make you cheerful to have a big cup of tea or even some ice cream or cereal. They are a lot bigger and clunkier than they seem in the picture, but that doesn't interfere with their style and function.

Many customers have commented about the finish. The truth is, low fire clay is typically done this way. The glaze is used to seal the interior only. The beauty of the clay is its ability to hold precise strokes of color during baking without the usual running that is normal with high fire clay, making precise stripes possible. This is a great handmade piece. The strap handles are obviously for hanging the mugs, not for holding them. They're soup sized and don't need handles to begin with. My only gripe is with the black stripes, which are poorly executed by unsteady hands. Too bad. Poor technique from Peru. Cool mugs for casual use.

Comments aboutHANDMADE CUPS OF ART:
I was so thrilled when I saw these mugs in the catalog - very stylish and seemingly ergonomically corret. I ordered one right away!Alas, I just returned it. The unglazed finish of the clay - which was not at all described in the catalog info - was entirely unacceptable to me! I could never, EVER comfortably hold such a mug and have that be a good feeling to me. ugh! Just the thought of holding such and potentially running my nails into it gives me the heeby jeebies!Plus, I couldn't understand how to hold the mug anyway, given the awkward placement of the handle.[...]
