They have different facial expressions for different kinds of music, and in the case of the All-Stars, they also have different hairstyles and personalities!
Punk: A troublemaker since day one, his life changed one day when he discovered his Dad's old punk albums. His favorite year is 1977, but he loves any music that is raw, fast and most importantly LOUD!
Glam: Glam loves glitter and sparkle with his music!
Hippie: Hippie is all about peace, love and good music, man. He loves listening to old records and thinking about big cosmic questions. His parents raised him to care about the planet and Hippie loves nature and the environment.

this thing never worked. daughter was completely devastated on christmas. Not so much because it didn't work but because she was so embarressed that her mom would buy something so stupid.

Its fun, simple and entertaining. I like the simple design. There are only a few things that keep it from being an A+ product.The price is too much for what you get as well as the fact that it lip syncs to the music and not just the lyrics. I understand why it does what it does but it would be great if it recognized the lyrics only and not the beat of the music mixed it. To get the best results from tengu, place it just the right distance from the sound by trial and error. Place it too close and he just has his mouth open, place it too far and he does nothing. I also dont like how he changes his faces by reacting to loud sounds. I wish they had a button instead so I could always keep the face I want without having to worry about him changing it to something else.
I recommend this product to everyone. Its hours of enjoyment by your desk.
