Creator Thomas Bates got the idea for these modern and stylish totes while exhibiting at a trade show. It was there that he learned the carpet used in the aisles at trade shows, conventions and conferences was thrown away once the event was over. In fact, over 4 billion pounds from these types of events end up in the landfill each year.

Drawn to the durability and corduroy-like texture, not to mention the variety of colors, Thomas Bates and designer Cathy Berse-Hurley created a line of recycled accessories made from the used carpet.

With extreme attention to detail and superb construction, these everyday purses help keep thousands of pounds of carpet out of landfills. Being green never looked so good.

Cute but narrow and NO pockets

I have the blue bag. I really like the colors and the texture of the material. The bag is pretty narrow, though, and there are NO pockets of any kind. NONE. I think I will probably give it a shot because it is cute and overall the right size and should work ok for me. But, it would be really awesome with an exterior pocket and at least one interior pocket.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I was pleased with the vibrant colors but didn't visualize the size correctly and was surprised at the small size for the price. I think the item is very well made and I love that when giving it as a gift it will open the conversation to environmental awareness. I love recycled products and re-purposed items!
