The fourth installation of the Protect Our World series, this set of glasses was designed to bring attention to four endangered animals: the lemur, the giant panda, the tiger and the sea turtle. These one-of-a-kind glasses feature the phrase "Protect Our Wildlife" in four languages: English, Spanish, Afrikaans/South African and French. Made from the bottom halves of reclaimed wine bottles that have been rescued from the North American waste stream, each glass is silk-screened in an eco-friendly manner. Made in Wisconsin. Each is one of a kind and will vary.
With the purchase of each set, UncommonGoods will donate $2 to Defenders of Wildlife, one of our Better to Give partners.
Uncommon Knowledge: Each year, roughly 300 tons of glass bottles are donated by wineries and recycling organizations across the country to be turned into glasses like these. And because they are made from prefab bottles that don't need to be crushed or melted, the glasses use less energy to create than normal glassware.

Love the idea of re-using resources to make glasses; the silk-screened designs on the glasses are not only pretty to look at but informative about wildlife as well. Only problem is that even with light dishwashing a few times, the silk-screen designs have worn off and are barely able to be seen. I will wash the remaining two glasses by hand, which is not extremely practical.

I bought these glasses because of all the great reviews and because they're made of recycled glass. I love the designs, and the glasses are sturdy. They're a little big for juice glasses but I'm using them just the same. Next time I have visitors, these are the glasses I'll use.
