You won't even feel the rain or the wind with this brilliantly designed umbrella. Winner of the 2007 Red Dot design award, this aerodynamic umbrella by designer Gerwin Hoggendarn can withstand winds up to 70 mph without inverting. This "smart" umbrella puts itself in the best position in the wind to protect you to the fullest. Optimal line of sight from under the canopy, patented reinforced rib construction and a patented handle construction with reverse opening. Instead of "popping" open like a traditional umbrella, the Senz gives you more control as you push it open manually. Nominated for the German Design Award 2008. Made in China.

What do you get for the person that has everything; something no one else has. Dose this thing work - who knows; if the wind is ever that strong; I will stay in side for reasons other than my umbrella braking. But the unique look and style makes it a conversation piece more than a utility.

I am a new student living on campus. I have just arrived here, and it helps meeting people since everyone wants to check out the umbrella. It's pretty cool and keeps me dry walking between buildings. Cheaper than a puppy.

Comments aboutAERODYNAMIC SENZ UMBRELLA - FULL SIZE:
I recall first seeing someone around town with one of these umbrellas a month or so ago, and my first thought was that it must have been some kind "slightly irregular" product perhaps purchased at an odd-lots, or "as-is" store. When I got closer, I realized the uneven canopy shape was by design, and was actually rather functional. Up until the start of this month, I had a special umbrella designed for windy conditions, with a two-layer canopy that allowed wind to vent through the flaps, but prevented any rain from seeping through. That worked great, even in a nor'easter. I left it somewhere, however, and a few days later saw the Senz Umbrella in the Uncommon Goods catalog - so I decided to take a chance and splurge on it. I love how it opens and closes - though the simple action required is yet to become automatic due to 35+ years of traditional umbrella programming. Another thing I really like is the extended portion of the canopy - the part that looks so odd on first sight. When you use a backpack, and have that extended canopy section covering your back, your pack is less likely to get saturated, as has been my experience with regular umbrellas. As for the wind resistance, I had several opportunities for testing that quality in recent heavy storms. The Senz is certainly well-made, and did not invert or disintegrate. However, unlike my recently-lost umbrella designed with "vents" for wind, I did feel more of the pull or tug of wind beneath the Senz canopy, during the higher gusts. The Senz does come with a little guide booklet, with specific mention of the recommended holding technique during windy conditions, so maybe I need a little more practice. Something tells me that with the increasingly stormy weather we seem destined to experience due to global climate change, I'll have more than enough opportunities to learn proper usage of this product.

A fabulous product, the Senz umbrella performs as advertised. Resists strong winds with no hint of possible inversion. I stroll casually down the sidewalk while my wife struggles with her conventional model. Amazing.

Comments aboutAERODYNAMIC SENZ UMBRELLA - FULL SIZE:
I used the product on a rainy day. The large umbrella is not large enough for a petite, average sized female. While it did seem sturdy in the wind, it was not wide enough to shield my arms and bags from the rain. I am so disappointed.
Service & Delivery comments:
Delivery was prompt, but the box the umbrella came in was so huge that I did not know what to do with it because it was such nice weather that I could not see how the umbrella worked. I wound up tossing the box because it was so big. A week and a half later it finally rained. Now I have to pay for a box to ship the umbrella back in as well as pay for shipping costs.
