This item was purchased from a gift registry so the couple made the choice. However, as the purchaser, I really liked the bamboo bowl and thought it was rather funky.

This bowl is a lot bigger than I expected, but that's a great plus because it has multiple uses--the angling of the curvature makes it an ideal place to put in a couple of magazines for your coffee table; or its intended use of being a fruit bowl.
Unfortunately, the photo of the website is VERY different than the actual product I received. The bowl was MUCH LIGHTER than pictured. You can easily stain this though if you'd like--assuming you won't be placing food products in it...the finish is matted and stains/enamels will stick to it very well.
