I received the can and instead of handing to my sister as is was, I instead wanted her to see the bean growing and see the message on the bean, so I opened it, watered it, and left it near a window. It had to be timed just right for my sisters's party so I ended up putting the bean under a lamp at night and talking to it to get it to grow faster. It worked and 5-6 days later the Happy Birthday message showed clearly on the bean. Everyone thought it was very cool.

This was the best gift i could have given my best friend. It was fr her birthdy, she loves the simple classy design of the containter and the bean is large, says happy birthday but also has a music note engraved on the back of the bean. I didnt expect that! But my friend LOVES music so i took credit for that extra awesomness. Its under $20 which is great, butthe bean grows so it lasts for a while and my friend will have my bestfriend lovr growing in her dorm room for a while. Good value! The instructions inside and on the can really were not very clear, temps were give in metric numbers and I am sorry but we do not know metric temp conversions. I hope it sprouts the happy birthday message but am not all that hopeful which is a bummer.

Great idea, great product and great value. I got this for my wife and her and our 3 year old daughter love checking on the bean. Amazing how much it grows in just one day once it comes out of the can. Only complaint is that our bean had a "rotten" spot (for lack of a better word) that happended to be right where the "birthday" was engraved on the bean so it was unlegible.
