Vibrant, punchy colors zig, zag and zoom across these basket-bowls in sharp deliberate lines creating a pulsing pattern of color and movement. Tightly woven with meticulous detail, these bowls are made in the Republic of South Africa from salvaged telephone wire. The handwoven decorative basket-bowls are a modern and urban expression of the Zulu art of basket-weaving that has been passed down for generations. The Zulu people are the largest ethnic group in South Africa, and they are know for their brightly colored beads and baskets. Handmade under Fair Trade guidelines, these bowls help African artisans build family income by providing them access to the North American market. Due to the handmade nature of these bowls, each will vary in color. Sold individually.
