I bought this set for my 8 year old son who is really into chess. I searched for well-made, inexpensive, kid-friendly chess sets and this is really the only one that fit the bill. Many kids chess set have pieces that are hard to tell what they represent and my son immediately knew which was the rook, bishop, knight, etc. The pieces are nicely weighted. The only improvement would be to have a magnetized board. We are loving this!

I have a friend who is an avid chess player and I immediately thought of him when I saw this set. It's really cute and very different - the two qualities that caught my eye. To be honest, it's not something I would buy for myself, preferring the more traditional-looking chess set (and little pieces of things and my cats just don't mix very well.) It's great to play with or just set out as part of the room decor. I just wish it wasn't so "plastic-feeling" which, IMHO, gives it a cheap feeling. But, all things being equal, I'd buy another set for some other chess fan that's for sure!

I like this product. My whole family plays chess so it's a great addition to our inside wooden set. This is great for out by the pool. It's made of rubber and plastic so it can get wet and dirty and then be washed. The only thing it lacks is a case. I have to keep mine in a sealable plastic bag to avoid losing the pieces.

I got this for my boyfriend for Christmas. He didn't have one and we enjoy playing chess together. Because of the fun colors I thought this would be a great board for him (he's artsy). He definitely liked it, but it's super annoying that it doesn't come with a case for the board, or at least the pieces. The cat is chewing on them every chance he gets and we just have to keep it set up for play and up on a shelf somewhere. I think it's getting dusty. As a side note, the pieces really aren't confusing to play with (however, we are mid-20s.. not kids, so.. I dunno). I guess I could just stop complaining and buy something to put the set in.
