The etching wore away very quickly - which seems very odd, since isn't etching an engravement? It is completely smooth where the etching has worn away, no rough spot, which makes me think the fish were painted on, rather than etched in the glass. Very disappointing - we now have 8 plain blue glasses, no more schools of fish. It is nice that they are used wine bottles, but for something so durable, I think they should be safe in the dishwasher.

What's Blue AND green...?

Love the cobalt blue; fish look nice with liquid in the glass. We also own the green "Protect the Earth" set, and they are my favorite; but this set sends the message more gently, for those tired of hearing "Save the Earth!" shrieked in their ears. Recycled glass from wine bottles, but you'd never know it from looking at them. They're not too fragile, nice weight and size. And even the packaging is environmentally conscious (no styrofoam, thank goodness!!) We've bought other sets as gifts. Kind of expensive, but after all, recycling comes at a cost. And so does NOT recycling.
