I love this mug which was given to me by a good friend of mine at Christmas. I used it for hot coffee and hot tea. I never microwave it nor in dishwasher. I always hand-wash it. In about 5 months, the heat-sensitive film began to show and peeled a little. You would have bits of rubbery material on your fingers when you hold the mug with hot drink in it. I stopped using it since then.

Don't be fooled, despite the picture, this is ONE mug, not two.
Change is not dramatic, but still neat.

The mug is a great quirky gift for scientists and environmentalists. It's message is about reducing CO2 emissions and developing alternative fuels. Unfortunately, it's made in China, so had to be shipped overseas on a diesel burning tanker. They couldn't find a place in the US to make these and therefore have a smaller carbon footprint???

I bought this as a gift for an environmental friend of mine, and he thought it was great. It's really fun to watch the coastline fade away from bottom to top, and it's a great conversation starter at work. He also loves that, in using a mug for his coffee, he is being more green, and he likes to joke that by drinking the coffee he is in fact "combatting global warming" (as the coastline returns when the empty mug cools).

I loved this mug when I received it as a gift from a friend through UG. I had actually been wanting to get it for myself for some time. It was so fun to see the continents wash away when the mug got hot.
But after about a month, much of the continents just peeled off permanently and I am left with a very drowned and damaged planet.
