Yardsticks used to be the way to get your business name known, and designer Dorothy Spencer's fabulously funky yardstick box recaptures the charm of the hardware stores and lumberyards that printed up rulers. Spencer searches for retro rulers and crafts these varnished keepsake boxes with roller skate wheels for feet and a water faucet handle. Handmade in Virginia. Each is one of a kind.

I received this a mother's day gift. It was wonderfully unique addition to my home. It is defintely homemade, because it is not perfectly level or matched up, but that is part of the charm.\n\nI work in advertising and I collect older forms of advertising. The yardstick box fits in perfectly in the collection.

I bought this for my husband as a unique birthday gift and though it is unique, it does not feel as authentic as I expected. [...] The piece just feels a bit 'assembly line' to me and not like the artist was involved in the final product.
